African Safari - 2026
Thursday 8 October'26 - Serengeti National Park (Tanzania)
At breakfast, the staff had a "very helpful assistant" and then it was time to head-off on the next leg. A 9 hour day but it was a safari as well as moving onto our next stop, Serengeti Serena Lodge. After passing through another large part of the national park we came across a troop of baboons, resting in the shade, feasting on the fruit of "the sausage tree". This fruit is also favoured by elephants. Next was a wake of vultures feeding on a carcass and at a river crossing, a monitor lizard

Now, you may already know that leopards like to drag their kill up trees for a few reasons. These being to keep it away from lions & hyenas but also the flies. The higher they can get it, the less fly's they need to contend with. They are incredibly strong and these photo's prove that as it is a wildebeest carcass they have left there after having a good feed. We then came across a lion and lioness who had just caught a male warthog and were in the process of finishing it off before "feeding the gang".

After a very full day, just over an hour to the Serengeti Serena Lodge, set high on a hilltop overlooking the plains. Very comfortable...
