SCandinavian Cruises - 2026
Saturday 2 May'26 - Canberra/Sydney/In Transit [the 3rd is further down this page]
And we are off... At 1300, we were picked up by our ever reliable "Uber Driver", Geoff Hine and whisked into the Jolimont Centre to catch our Murrays Express to Sydney Aiport.
3'10" later, we were at the airport with the ride being all the more enjoyable as the Raiders had a good win away, against the Titans... A little later, we were checked in, through security and immigration easily and headed into the Business Class lounge for some sustenance and hydration.
The Malaysian Airlines flight is scheduled to leave at 2210, arriving in KL at 0510, tomorrow morning.
The aircraft was a brand new Airbus A300 and was rather nice. The seating was set out spaciously and it had a sliding door on the aisle so if you wanted, you really had a very private space..
Sunday 3 May'26 - Kuala Lumpur/London
An early morning arrival into KL but the airport was already reasonably busy. Nice to be able to go and sit in a nice private lounge whilst awaiting the next leg into Heathrow, London... Whilst waiting for the flight, I checked on the Washington Spirit's game in the US's National Women's Soccer League. Why you may well ask.?
Well, some of you may recall that on the 2024 Rhine River Xmas Markets cruise, I befriended a couple of young American ladies (early 20's) and during one of the dinner conversations, the subject of my support for the Canberra Raiders was raised and it turned out they have the same pasion for the Spirit and a pact was then made that they would be Raider's supporters and I, a proud supporter of the Spirit, They had a close but satisfyung 3-2 win over Orlando..
The London connection was 10 minutes late but we arrived on schedule at 1630. After clearing Immigration and Customs, into the transfer car and off to the Locke at Broken Wharf, home for the next 5 nights. It is situated right on the Thames, across from the Globe Theatre and Tate Gallery. Settled in just before 1900 and then a quick walk to a local shop for some sandwiches, a drink and then, given we had very little sleep on the 9 hour Sydney to KL leg and it is now the equivalent of 0530 Monday morning here, feeling just a tad knackered... Tomorrow, the touristing begins :)
