SCandinavian Cruises - 2026

Monday 11 May'26 - Geiranger (Norway)

Today we entered Geirangerfjord at 0530, a balmy  5' with the sun having risen at 0446 and sunset is 2210.  A fairly lengthy cruise up the fjord before docking at Geiranger just on 0900.  A brief walk around the village before heading off an an excursion, Geiranger Mt. Dalsnibba and Eagle Road.  We 1st headed towards Mt Dasnibba.  Unbelievable amount of very tight hairpin turns and you wouldn't believe how far we climbed from the port.  On the way, a short photo op before heading to Djupvatnet, which is a frozen lake, 1'016 m above sea level.  Unfortunately, due to the snow fall over night, the road to Mt Dalsnibba was closed, which meant, the visit to Geiranger Skywalk was cancelled (the photo is a stock web image).  After that, back down towards Geiranger but headed to Eidsvatnet ( another lake) via Eagle Road.

After that, back towards Geiranger with great scenery, but not without one more photo op, at Eagle Rd lookout...  The scenic beauty is breathtaking!  A lovely lunch at Berserk in Geinranger before heading back onto the ship for a small R&R before dinner.  The day was full of magnificent scenery...  Tonight was The Normandie (another 1 of the 4 "free" dining restaurants) and once again,  another fabulous meal.  We asked to sit near a window because on our way out, we were going to pass a waterfall called The Suitor...  Legend has it that a man had asked to marry 1 of the 7 Sister's (a waterfall directly opposite, which we passed on the way in however, due to the late snow melt this year, wasn't overly spectacular), but was turned down so many times, he turned to the drink, which ruined him.  Can you see the bottle in the waterfall???  After dinner, a couple of hours undertaking a Pub Quiz before settling in and a well deserved sleep.  The last photo is a shot of the boat cruising out of the Fjord at 9.30pm, still in full sunlight!
